TOKYO – November 26, 2021
EdulinX Corporation (Head Office: Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President: Peter A. Owans), a provider of EdTech solutions for English language learning and human resources development, has announced a partnership agreement with ELSA Corp., a startup founded in San Francisco that uses proprietary speech technology with deep learning and AI to help language learners improve their English speaking skills and pronunciation.
ELSA was founded in 2015 with investment from Google’s AI-focused venture fund, and is developing a proprietary AI speech recognition technology that focuses on correcting English pronunciation and improving speaking skills. ELSA also has an app with 20 million users in 101 countries.
Adding ELSA’s proprietary speech technology to Reallyenglish’s popular course, “Practical English,” will help to improve users’ learning efficiency. The renewed version of “Practical English 9 (Tentative)” will be released next year.
“We are honored to partner with EdulinX, a company with a long history and track record of providing English language training to Japanese companies. Through this partnership, we hope to help improve the pronunciation of English, which has long been a weakness of many Japanese learners of English. We look forward to seeing more English learners gain confidence and success in the global business arena through the new Reallyenglish, powered by ELSA’s world-class AI speech recognition technology,”
said Toshiya Tamaki, ELSA Head of Growth, Japan.
“At EdulinX, it is our singular focus to make learning English fun and interactive for our customers, which is why we are proud to partner with ELSA and integrate their bespoke AI-powered technology into our e-Learning platform. The science behind ELSA’s AI technology is well documented and, with the combined smart, adaptive learning systems of both companies, EdulinX will work relentlessly to transform how our students learn English. We believe ELSA’s unique framework, which is trained using voice data of people speaking English with various accents, is well suited for Japan. Our two companies share the common goal of transforming learning through technology, and we encourage our customers to take advantage of this new wave of learning that EdulinX brings through this partnership,”
said Peter A. Owans, President and CEO of EdulinX Corporation.
