Background
In recent years, corporate improprieties and data breaches have been increasing in Japan, including scenarios where a company’s future is put in jeopardy. For businesses, compliance measures should not end with the drafting of internal regulations, but rather it is important that employees have a firm understanding of the meaning and significance of each regulation. However, the scope of corporate compliance is broad, and it is very difficult to educate employees in a way that covers all aspects. EdulinX and the team of lawyers at ZeLo, a Foreign Law Joint Enterprise, have jointly developed The Basics of Compliance, a new e-learning content series that every employee needs for their day-to-day business operations. Leveraging the strengths of EdulinX’s expertise in education and technology, and ZeLo’s expertise in legal affairs, this course has been designed to help employees learn a wide range of essential topics related to compliance.
Key facts about The Basics of Compliance Course
- Created by legal experts
This specialized e-learning course was co-created in partnership with Naoki Ajika, Attorney-at-law, who is also a subject matter expert in compliance. Ajika lends his knowledge and experience in a wide range of compliance-related topics such as insider trading regulations, and also as an attorney who has been on assignment to Japan’s regulatory authority (Securities and Exchange Surveillance Commission of the Financial Services Agency).
- Covers the latest regulatory and legislative changes
The course includes the latest regulatory and legislative changes, such as the recent amendment of laws regarding Power Harassment (Act on Comprehensive Promotion of Labor Policies, Stabilization of Employment and Improvement of Workplace Environment), which came into effect in June 2020 for large companies and will come into effect in April 2022 for small and medium-sized companies.
- Provides a general introduction and perfect starting point
Using simple activities and concise explanations of the key points, the course is designed to cover the basic essentials, and also serves as the ideal starting point for this broad topic of compliance in the workplace. In the course, participants learn compliance concepts through images and videos, as well as case studies that incorporate actual examples and cases.
- Enhances knowledge retention
This course has been designed to maximize knowledge retention using EdulinX’s microlearning courseware by following the learning steps of receiving a lecture, reviewing, and confirming with a quiz on each topic. In the course, the mini-test and lesson test questions are based on real-life business situations, which are designed to provide an immersive learning experience for participants.
